Who should attend ?

All those who wish to :

  • Understand how own behaviour and attitude can affect and influence the behaviour of others

  • Develop more open and fruitful relationships with others

  • Cope with stressful emotional situations and people

  • Transmit the best possible image of oneself, one’s team, one’s department and one’s company


Course content

Maximum participant practice role playing his/her specific situations – DVD recording, coaching.

INTRODUCTION

  • Definition. With whom can you be assertive, why now, when to use it, assertiveness and integrity, keeping a balance.

THREE BEHAVIOUR TYPES

  • Three options, non-assertive behaviour (reasons, mind games, musts and obligations, self talk, inner voices), aggressive behaviour, assertive behaviour (advantages, liberation circle, affirmations).

RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Definition of basic rights, corresponding responsibilities, rights and responsibilities at work.

ASSERTIVENESS SKILLS

  • Body language, receiving and giving criticism, receiving positive feedback, disagreement process, “I” statements, asking for what you want, broken record, negative assertion, fogging, negative enquiry, power words.

ASSERTIVE ACTIVITIES

  • General advice points, ten activities to practise assertive behaviour

  • Person to person and in groups/meetings

ACTION PLAN

  • An individual action plan to apply on returning to work.
